Understand Aperture & Understanding Depth of Field

Understand Aperture

Definition is a measure of how large aperture lens is open (aperture) when we take photographs.

When we pressed the shutter button, the hole in front of our camera sensor will open, well-aperture setting that determines how big the hole is open. The bigger the hole open, the more light will enter the number read by the sensor.

Aperture or openings expressed in terms of f-stop. Often we read the terms of openings / 5.6 aperture, the more formal language of photography can be expressed as f / 5.6. As noted above, the primary function of the aperture is as controlling how big the hole in front of an open sensor. The smaller the f-stop number means the bigger the hole is open (and the more the volume of the incoming light), and conversely, the larger the number the smaller the f-stop open pit.

So in reality, the aperture setting of f / 2.8 means a much larger aperture settings dibandingkaan f / 22 for example (you will often find the term fully open when they hear the chatter photographer). So it means that the smaller the aperture width f his figures and narrow openings means the greater number of his f.

Understanding Depth of Field

Depth of field - DOF, is a measure of how far the focal plane in the photo. Depth of Field (DOF) which means that most of the width of the picture object (from the nearest object farthest from the camera to the object) will look sharp and focused. While narrow DOF (shallow) means that only part of the object at any given point sharp while the rest will be blurry / out of focus.

To get a broad DOF use a small aperture setting, suppose f-22 (the smaller the aperture the more extensive focal distance) - see example photo above. While to get a narrow DOF, use the aperture as large as possible, eg f / 2.8 - see example photo below.

The concept of depth of field will be more useful, especially in portrait photography and macro photography, but actually all specialties will be needed.

Download Skype 7.2.0.103 - Free Software

Skype is the most popular free voice-over IP and instant messaging service globally. It allows users to text, video and voice call over the internet. Users can also call landlines and mobiles at competitive rates using Skype credit, premium accounts and subscriptions. Skype was publically released in 2003 and now accounts for roughly a third of all international calling minutes. Skype uses P2P technology to connect users on a multitude of platforms including desktop, mobile and tablet. The call quality (depending on your internet signal) and additional features like conversation history, conference calling and secure file transfer are excellent. There have been some criticisms over the programs bandwidth usage and security vulnerabilities.

Skype Calling

Once you’ve downloaded and installed Skype, you will need to create a user profile and unique Skype name. You can then search for other users in the Skype directory or call them directly using their Skype name. Voice chat comes with conference calling, secure file transfer and a highly secure end to end encryption. Video chat is available on higher bandwidth connections and makes keeping up with distant family/friends much more interactive. Video conferencing and the Screenshare features make Skype popular with the corporate market. Skype’s text chat client features group chat, chat history, message editing and emoticons. Skype also enables calls to landlines and mobiles using a premium paid service.

 Easy to Use

Skype’s UI is very intuitive and easy to use. All the classic messaging service features like profiles, online status, contacts and recent history are displayed in the left navigation. Here you will also find the Skype directory, group options, a search box and premium calling buttons. The right side (main window) opens the content you select. For individual contacts you will see a text message box, chat history and calling options.

Call Quality

On fast internet connections Skype call quality is excellent for both voice and video calls. The hybrid peer-to-peer client server system means the sound quality is better than most VoIP services. That being said, if you do have a slower internet connection, voice calls may be interrupted or delayed. Video calls will be intermittent and pixelated. Text chat will only be affected by very poor connections. The call quality button will give you detailed information on the expected call quality for each of your contacts (as the quality depends on both parties internet connection).

Summary

If you’re looking for a reliable and easy to use VoIP client, you’ll find it hard to beat Skype. Microsoft’s purchase of Skype in 2011 has further stabilized the platform and accelerated development as Microsoft used Skype to replace its aging messaging service Windows Live Messenger. Click on the green download button to give it a try.

Understanding Shutter Speed

By definition, the shutter speed is the span of time when you open the shutter in the camera. More easily, shutter speed means the time in which the sensors we 'see' the subject that we will photograph. Simply shutter speed is between the time we pressed the shutter button on the camera until the button back to its original position.

To make it simple, we translate this concept in some use in the camera:

  • Setting the shutter speed of your camera means 500 in a span of as much as 1/500 (seperlimaratus) seconds. Yes, the shortest and sekilat it. As for the exposure time of 30 seconds, you will see it like this: 30 ''
  • Setting the shutter speed on your camera is usually in multiples of 2, so we'll see a row like this: 1/500, 1/250, 1/125, 1/60, 1/30 and so on. Now almost all cameras also allow setting 1/3 stop, so less movement of the shutter speed of the meeting; 1/500, 1/400, 1/320, 1/250, 1/200, 1/160 ... etc.
  • To take sharp photos, use a shutter speed that is safe. Safety rules in most conditions is setting the shutter speed 1/60 or faster, so that the resulting image will be sharp and safety of the images are shaded (blurry / out of focus). We can outsmart these safe limits with a tripod or use the Image Stabilization feature (discussed in the next post)
  • Limit other safe shutter speed is: shutter speed we should be greater than the length of our lens. So if we use a 50mm lens, use a minimum of 1/60 second shutter. If we use 17mm lenses, use a shutter speed of 1/30 sec.
  • Shutter speed to freeze motion. Use a shutter speed as high as reasonably achievable to freeze motion. The faster an object moves we want to freeze the picture, the faster the shutter speed is needed. To freeze the motion of a bird for example, use the Shutter Priority mode and set the shutter speed at 1/1000 second number (ideally the ISO is set to auto option) so that the result is sharp. If you notice, the photographer was idolized sports mode S / Tv's.
  • Intentional motion blur - the shutter speed to show the effect of motion. When photographing moving objects, we can intentionally slow down the shutter speed us to show the effect of the movement. Make sure you include at least one stationary object such as an anchor picture. Consider the following picture:
